Gucci Mane Camp Sued Again for Missed Shows
May 4th
Gucci Mane (Radric Davis), his booking agent Johnnie Cabbell (Hitt Afta Hitt Entertainment), and Debra Antney (So Icey Entertainment CEO) are facing another lawsuit over alleged concert no-shows.
The latest lawsuit was filed in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania by William Marshall (Marshall Productions) and Derrick Brown (Rockstar Entertainment). The two parties allege that Gucci’s representatives took two deposits of $13, 750.00 to book him for concerts in Pittsburgh last August that were never completed.
At the time, Gucci Mane was restricted from leaving the state of Georgia due to parole violations from a 2005 felony assault, which eventually resulted in him being sent back to prison for 12 months on November 12.
According to the lawsuit, Marshall and Brown claim “the defendants’ engaged in a widespread scheme scheduling concerts they knew would not take place, including the concerts involving plaintiffs that are the subject of this complaint.”
Last year, Gucci Mane’s camp was the subject of intense media scrutiny regarding similar claims from other promoters in a 10-page investigative article by Ozone magazine founder Julia Beverly.
“I am fully aware of the recent allegations which have been made about me and my company Hitt Afta Hitt Entertainment (HAH). I am a licensed and bonded entertainment booker and have been operating my company successfully for almost a decade,” Johnnie Cabbell told AllHipHop.com last December. “During my career, I have booked thousands upon thousands of shows and have worked with various promoters all over the country. I have maintained an impeccable track record and am operating within the confines of all applicable laws. I’ve always strived to do the best job I can possibly do and will continue to do that.”
The plaintiffs are seeking over $25,000 in damages.
At press time, a court date has not been set.

Shyne To Drop New Single Next Tuesday
Apr 9th
Shyne is gearing up to release the first official single from his upcoming album via a new deal between his Gangland Records, and Island/Def Jam.
According to reports, Shyne will drop the single next Tuesday (April 13th), making it his first new single in almost 10 years.
In February, Shyne inked a seven-figure deal with Island/Def Jam and began recording his album in Belize, where IDJ CEO L.A. Reid hosted a press conference announcing the new business deal.
Shyne is barred from entering the United States and was not allowed to enter the United Kingdom in February, due to his criminal record.
Shyne, aka Moses Leviy, was released from prison in October of 2009, after serving over 9 years in prison for his role in a nightclub shootout in 1999, involving Bad Boy Records’ CEO Sean “Diddy” Combs and his then girlfriend Jennifer Lopez
.
Shyne was supposed to be featured on DJ Khaled’s album Victory, but the track, named “All My Life,” featuring Akon and Mavado, was dropped for legal reasons.
According to reports, Shyne is collaborating with Scott Storch, who is said to be producing a large portion of the album.
He is also working with producer Coptic, who has confirmed that he created a track for Shyne titled “Hand on My 45.”
Warner Bros. Records Threatens Copyright Infringement
Apr 9th
Warner Bros. Records makes yet another mistake in the unstable music industry by sending numerous copyright infringement claims to top websites and blogs including Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes, ordering them to remove any Gucci Mane content. The falter will more than likely hinder the incarcerated rapper’s return to the music scene as his career has been built upon mixtapes, djs, blogs and the underground culture.
(NewIndustryTips.com) April 8, 2010 — Warner Bros. Records has sent numerous copyright infringement claims against many of the top website and blogs in the urban music industry including Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes. The claims, sent by a 3rd party “GrayZone, Inc.” based in New York, states that the websites have infringed on the copyrighted property of Warner Bros. Records, Inc and requested removal of all mentions of Gucci Mane on the sites in question, barring legal action.
The website http://www.Coast2CoastMixtapes.com was asked to remove all Gucci Mane earlier this month even though they host no files on the actual website, causing them to question the grounds of the sweeping claims. On April, 8th, the website hosting company for http://www.coast2coastmixtapes.com, GoDaddy.com, was sent a Cease and Desist letter as well and shut the website down for a matter of hours. The site was immediately reinstated as no copyright laws had been violated, leaving website owners to questions the validity of the claims.
“The funny thing is we don’t host any files on our site,” explains Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes CEO Kyle “Lil Fats” Hiersche, “We help promote music to the fans and use other parties to help our efforts, meaning we don’t host any files but use providers like Datpiff.com to stream music. When we were asked to remove all files we questioned the basis of the claims, stating that we in fact don’t host any music on the website. We like to promote music of all kinds but if Warner Bros. Records doesn’t want to be included then we will gladly stop promoting all their artists.”
These claims seem to come at a pivotal time in the rapper’s career, as his buzz is growing bigger than ever it seems the label is determined to undermine any traction they have gained. Gucci Mane’s whole career had been built upon a heavy mixtape presence that had catapulted him to the top of most urban blogs and websites. The blackballing of websites by the artist is sure to incite a flurry of backlashes at the artist’s career, at a time when he cannot even defend the actions of his label while incarcerated.
